SheWhoGolfs emerged from friendship and a shared understanding of what access to golf can unlock personally and professionally.
Anita and Val have been friends since high school. Anita and Leslie met in college. Each of us discovered golf at different points in our lives—but we all experienced its impact in the same way. Golf became a source of confidence, stress relief, connection, and professional growth.
We also recognized something else: far too many women, especially African American women and women of color, are never given the opportunity to experience the game in a meaningful or welcoming way.
That realization became a call to action. In 2018, SheWhoGolfs became an official non-profit organization. In 2020, Pam Smith joined our executive team, strengthening our leadership and expanding our reach.
Today, SheWhoGolfs designs and delivers programming that introduces women to golf, creating pathways to wellness, leadership, and opportunity.
This organization is a dream realized and a commitment in motion. We invite you to support and grow with us as we continue this work.
SheWhoGolfs is a nonprofit organization dedicated to educating and inspiring African American women and women of color to golf. We accomplish this through programming, youth initiatives and community engagement. We see golf as a powerful tool to connect, open doors and have fun.
Golf is more than a sport. It’s a social, professional, and personal connector.
Access to golf often means access to relationships, leadership development, stress relief, and opportunity. Yet for many African American women and women of color, that access has been limited or denied altogether not because of lack of interest or ability, but because of exposure, invitation, and support.
SheWhoGolfs exists to change that. We introduce women to golf in a way that is welcoming, intentional, and empowering so they can step onto the course with confidence and use the game as a tool for growth, balance, and connection.
We believe community, education, and intentional programming are the keys to lasting change.
